Dr. Shafiq Choudhary Shares His Thoughts on Walking Down the Path of an Entrepreneur
Before we move forward, let us talk about what exactly an entrepreneur is and why it is considered a desirable - yet challenging career choice.
To put it simply, an entrepreneur is someone who manages, organizes, and assumes the many risks of businesses and enterprises. It is a person who owns and runs a business and takes on the responsibility of managing its operations. In fact, some of the most common characteristics of entrepreneurs include being innovative, intelligent, creative, resourceful, and someone who is not afraid of taking risks.
Being an entrepreneur gives room to a lot of freedom. You can work under your own hours, on whatever you want, whenever you want. Abiding by your rules alone seems like a dream come true for many people. But we also have to consider the other side of being an entrepreneur, which is not quite as desirable as the benefits it offers.
However, keep in mind that being an entrepreneur also means that you will constantly be dealing with ups and downs, coming across many failures before you do anything right, losses, and many struggles. It will take a long time before you actually see the money rolling in the company.
Naturally, the hard part of this career serves as a deal breaker in the whole package and is one of the main reasons why most people quit midway through their entrepreneurship journey. But if you are still willing to go through with your plan, keep in mind that your career journey will not be easy and is nothing like a fairytale story that you might have imagined.
However, observing the work of current entrepreneur professionals helps in determining and understanding if you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. A prime example you can learn from in this case would be Dr. Shafiq Choudhary - a renowned British entrepreneur who serves as the European Managing Director of Tetris Pharma. For more than 30 years, many people have known him to be an expert when it comes to pharmaceuticals, properties, and care home professional fields.
During the first couple of years of his career, his first job was with SmithKline & French in 1988 after which he spent some time in Stockholm, Sweden, working for Thermometric AB as an Application Specialist and looked after International Sales and Marketing from 1990. Later on, he moved to the USA, where he started working for Thermometric’s US partner on the East Coast. Eventually, he completed his Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of California, Davis, USA, before returning to the UK in 1992.
Some of his notable works include introducing Blue Chip Healthcare to the public - a company centered around trading and distribution of pharmaceuticals from all over Europe. He also served as the co-owner of Intrapharm Laboratories in 2009 and later focused on acquiring Peckforton Pharmaceuticals in 2014.
Moreover, Choudhary was elected the Cox Green Parish Councillor, Maidenhead, in 2000, and as an experienced entrepreneur, Choudhary utilizes his skills to efficiently deal with the makings of a commercial infrastructure in the UK and Europe while also securing assets through business development at the same time.
